A woman was knocked down and sexually assaulted Wednesday evening while walking on Harte Trail.
The victim, in her 40s, was walking on the trail between Harstone Road and Buckingham Road at around 6 p.m. when she crossed paths with a man.
The two passed each other in opposite directions, but the man then turned around and began running towards the victim. The woman turned around and saw the suspect sprinting towards her trying to open his pants.
She was knocked to the ground and there was a struggle, according to police. A witness nearby came to the aid of the victim and the man ran off.
Police say their sex crimes unit identified a suspect, who was arrested at a home in the 600 block of Harstone Road at around 11:05 p.m.
Arnez Goodman of Winnipeg, 18, has been charged with sexual assault. He remains in custody.
