WINNIPEG — Renowned Manitoba chef Mandel Hitzer has hit the road to bring his culinary delights to diners in Toronto, Vancouver and Portland, Oregon.
Hitzer is coming off a successful instalment of RAW:Wasagaming, a 24-course pop-up dining experience in Riding Mountain National Park, earlier this fall.
Hitzer, an award-winning chef, will be creating meals for the third time at the 16th annual EAT! Vancouver event on November 7 and 9. The festival attracts foodies from across North America and features award-winning chefs from Canada and the United States.
From there, Hitzer will cook for the first time at Indie Chef Week Portland on November 15 and 18. The event is a pan-American dining series fuelled by the energy and style of standout food cities coast to coast with each event featuring a curated crew of 24 chefs.
“I’m such a proud Winnipegger and I’m always so excited to share what we have with food lovers when I travel,” says Hitzer. “It’s also a great opportunity to inspire diners and make them about curious about the ingredients around them in their own communities.”
Hitzer recently attended Grey Gardens on October 24 after being invited to prepare his prairie features. The restaurant was ranked number 43 on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list.
Some of the Manitoba ingredients to make the menu include Manitoba-foraged phellinus mushrooms, winged sumac, house-made chokecherry vinaigrette, chantrelle mushrooms, spruce semifreddo, crabapple granite, and celery leaf oil to name a few.
