Rehabilitation work in Riding Mountain National Park will result in temporary closures beginning Wednesday.
Highway 19 from Lake Katherine to Rolling River Road will be closed for culvert installations, then Rolling River Road to the East Gate will be closed while crews complete the latter portion.
The closures are in effect from November 7-21.
Visitors will still be able to access Lake Katherine, Grey Owl, and Arrowhead from the entrance off Highway 10 and able to access certain trailheads from the east side.
Parks Canada says the work will improve the safety and reliability of highway infrastructure by reducing the chances of road washouts and overland flooding. It will also result in conservation gains by improving stream connectivity and removing fish passage barriers for both large and small-bodied species including minnows, pikes, white suckers, and sticklebacks.
