WINNIPEG — Assiniboine Park Zoo will waive admission for veterans, military personnel and their immediate families this weekend in honour of Remembrance Day.
Free admission applies on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. Tickets must be purchased at the zoo entrance and identification is required.
“This is a great opportunity for us to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served our country,” said Grant Furniss, senior director of animal care and conservation at Assiniboine Park Zoo.
“We are so grateful to the men and women who sacrifice so much so that we can enjoy our freedoms. This is our way of saying thank you.”
Veterans, military personnel and their families receive 10 percent off regular zoo admission and memberships throughout the entire year.
The zoo and its facilities will operate on reduced hours on Sunday from 1-4 p.m., while the Park Café will be closed. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
