What’s Open and Closed on Remembrance Day in Winnipeg

Here’s what’s open, closed or operating on a reduced schedule in Winnipeg as Canada pauses to remember our veterans on Remembrance Day, Sunday, November 11. To find a service near you, visit veterans.gc.ca.

Shopping Centres
Kildonan Place — 1-6 p.m.
Grant Park — 1-5 p.m.
Outlet Collection — 1-6 p.m.
Cadillac Fairview (Polo Park) — 1-6 p.m.
St. Vital Centre — 1-6 p.m.

Manitoba Liquor Marts
Most Winnipeg Liquor Mart locations will be open on Remembrance Day from 1-6 p.m., except for cityplace and Jefferson Express, which will remain closed. For a complete list of hours, visit LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

City of Winnipeg Civic Offices
All civic offices are closed on Monday, November 12, 2018.

Recycling/Garbage Collection
There are no changes to recycling, garbage and yard waste collection as Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday.

Brady Road Landfill — Closed on Sunday, November 11.
Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Monday, November 12, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Pacific 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Monday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Panet 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Monday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Winnipeg Transit
To honour the men and women who have sacrificed for our country, Winnipeg Transit will be offering free transit service to armed forces veterans, current serving personnel, including cadets and reservists, and one companion. Those who wish to use this free service may do so by wearing a military uniform, or by presenting a military identification or CF1 card at the time of boarding.

On Sunday, November 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Winnipeg Transit will be observing one minute of silence in honour of Remembrance Day. At 11 a.m., Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.

Also in honour of Remembrance Day, the bus route/destination signs will scroll with the message “Lest We Forget” in addition to the usual route information all day on November 11.

Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Sunday, November 11 and Monday, November 12.

Leisure Centres
All Leisure Centres are closed on Sunday, November 11 and are open regular business hours on Monday, November 12.

Swimming Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools are closed on Sunday, November 11, with the exception of the Margaret Grant Pool, the Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.

The Margaret Grant and Pan Am Pools will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All indoor pools are open regular business hours on Monday, November 12.

Animal Services Agency
The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Sunday, November 11, and operating on limited hours on Monday, November 12 – Noon to 5 p.m.

Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital, and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on, Monday, November 12.

Cemetery offices will be closed on Monday, November 12.

Winnipeg Parking Authority
The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed on Monday, November 12.
