Man Carjacked, Robbed in Downtown Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — A man was carjacked Tuesday night while walking to his vehicle in the area of Garry Street and Assiniboine Avenue.

Police say the 35-year-old victim was approached by a man and woman at around 10:20 p.m., who ordered him into his vehicle and demanded a ride.

The three drove to Ashburn Street and Portage Avenue, where the driver was forced to pull over and exit the vehicle. He was robbed of his personal belongings before the suspects drove off in his grey-coloured 2014 Ford Escape.

The victim wasn’t injured, but told police the man may have had a weapon.

The male suspect is described as approximately 5’10” tall with a thin build. He had his face covered.

The woman is described as Indigenous, 25-30 years of age and approximately 5’10” with a thin build and long brown hair in a ponytail.
