RCMP have a man in custody after a 20-year-old woman was shot while sitting in a car in the RM of Gimli on Saturday night.

Police responded to Provincial Road 231 at around 11:40 p.m. and found the victim. The RM of Armstrong woman later succumbed to her injuries.

RCMP say a fight broke out at a local bar in Fraserwood earlier in the evening, which forced the establishment to close and patrons to leave.

A man who was at the bar drove approximately three kilometres on Road 11 East (Kuz Road). Police say he parked his vehicle and fired a rifle on three passing vehicles that were coming from the bar.
