WINNIPEG — Ice cream lovers will soon be able to get their Goog fix in the off-season.
Winnipeg’s iconic Bridge Drive-In (BDI) is opening up inside Kildonan Place Shopping Centre in December, serving up its tasty trademark frozen desserts in the mall’s food court.
“No matter the temperature outside, this city loves ice cream,” said BDI owner Justin Jacob. “We can’t wait to serve our customers year-round at Kildonan Place.”
KP general manager Sandra Hagenaars says many customers have been asking for an ice cream shop.
“When Winnipeggers think ‘ice cream,’ they think BDI,” she said.
An official opening date isn’t yet known, but will be shared on the KP and BDI social media accounts in the coming weeks.
Customers can expect classic BDI menu items, such as Goog Specials and Peach Velvets, to renowned soft serve cones and “the creamiest shakes in town.” Take-home ice cream will also be available.
BDI recently wrapped up an extended season at its trademark Jubilee Avenue location on November 17. The ice cream maker also operates a satellite location at the University of Manitoba and a mobile truck to accommodate festivals and special events.
