WINNIPEG — A 61-year-old man was pulled from his vehicle and had his wheels stolen from him just minutes before thieves crashed his ride into a building.
Winnipeg police say the victim was driving in the area of Beverley Street and Ellice Avenue at around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday when several people standing in the road stopped his vehicle. They demanded his keys, but when he was refused, pulled him from the vehicle.
The suspects took off in the man’s 2003 Nissan Sentra. About five minutes later, the vehicle crashed into a building on Sherbrook Street near William Avenue. The driver and passenger were seen running away, but a man in the backseat was injured. Police say he was transported to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable
Several parked vehicles were also struck just prior to the crash.
