An 18-year-old Manitoba man is starting the weekend off by being a little lighter in the wallet department.

RCMP tweeted on Friday that the man was caught hurrying home from school travelling 174 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The officer clocked the man speeding in his 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and issued him a $1,019 fine. The driver will also have his licence reviewed with Manitoba Public Insurance.
