A house fire in the RM of Riding Mountain West has claimed the life of a 29-year-old man.

The fire broke out Sunday approximately 10 kilometres north of Inglis, Manitoba at around 12:45 a.m.

Police and volunteer firefighters arrived to find two men, aged 43 and 74, who safely made it out of the house. They told emergency crews that the 29-year-old man was believed to be in the garage and hadn’t come out.

The structure was fully engulfed in flames at the time. Once crews could extinguish the blaze, the Office of the Fire Commissioner located the man’s body inside.

RCMP say the fire and death appear to be non-criminal in nature.
