The first week of the Winnipeg police festive season checkstop program resulted in 1,602 vehicles being stopped.

Between December 1-7, police administered 88 roadside breath tests, resulting in six warnings and one failure.

Five people were charged with impaired driving (one with cannabis-related impairment), there were two non-driving related criminal arrests, and 89 provincial offence tickets were handed out.

Police will be out in increased numbers every day in December, including New Year’s Eve, looking for impaired drivers and other driving infractions.
