A woman was arrested Christmas Day after allegedly stabbing another woman during a confrontation at a home in the 600 block of Toronto Street.

Winnipeg police were called to the residence at around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday and found the victim suffering from serious injuries. The woman, in her 20s, was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Police say both women knew each other and the victim was stabbed numerous times before the suspect stole her house keys.

Officers found the suspect at a hotel in the 1600 block of Ellice Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. and took her into custody.

Vera Raquel Grieves of Winnipeg, 18, has been charged with attempt to commit murder and robbery.
