Winnipeg Police Locate Weapons Cache After Recovering Stolen Vehicle

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — Three people are in custody after Winnipeg police found a cache of weapons within a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.

Police spotted the vehicle at around 11:30 a.m. driving in the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue. Officers pulled it over in the 200 block of Austin Street North and placed three people under arrest.

Police located three improvised firing devices and a backpack containing pepper spray.

Justin Karl Melquist, 26, Ileana Elizabeth Jewell Baptiste, 21, and Charles Corey Chamakese, 20, face several charges and remain in custody.
