WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police say two people have been charged in the city’s first homicide of the year.

They say Adam Travis Martin, 31, was shot and killed just six hours into the new year.

Police say they believe Martin had been socializing at the home where he was found in critical condition when two male suspects arrived and got into an argument with him.

They say the argument escalated to a physical fight, and Martin was shot at around 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Officers say an 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning, and charged with second-degree murder.

They say a 22-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with second-degree murder, as well as unauthorized possession of a firearm.
