Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in a fatal stabbing in the 600 block of McGee Street.
Police responded to the area on December 17 for a well-being call and found a 34-year-old man with stab wounds in critical condition. He later died in hospital and has been identified as Ricardo Junior Hibi of Winnipeg.
An arrested warrant for Kane Ashley Antonio Moar, 21, was issued two days later for second-degree murder.
Cadets took Moar into custody Saturday night in the area of Ellice Avenue and Maryland Street under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
Police say Moar identified himself as someone else, but police were able to determine it was their suspect a short time later. He also kicked an officer as he was removed from the cruiser car at police headquarters.
The Winnipeg man has been charged with second-degree murder, assaulting a peace officer, identity fraud and being unlawfully at large.
