WINNIPEG — A $1 million windfall is coming at an opportune time for a Winnipeg woman.
Monica Hornbeck won the cool million on the December 7 Lotto Max draw and says the winnings will be used wisely.
“It’s especially nice now that we’re moving into retirement age,” she said. “It doesn’t feel like retirement is looming; now we’re really looking forward to it.”
Hornbeck says she plans on using some of the winnings to help her family, while investing the rest.
“It’s wonderful knowing that we don’t have to worry,” she added. “It’s a relief, a gift. As much as this is a gift, it’s a responsibility too.”
Hornbeck purchased her $6 quick pick ticket at P & P Market at 682 McGregor Street. The winning numbers on one of the Maxmillions draws were 11, 23, 24, 25, 26, 33 and 42.
