Winnipeg police raided two south end hotel rooms Wednesday, but not before being led on a chase to catch up to multiple suspects.
Police spotted a man known to them leaving the Comfort Inn at 3109 Pembina Highway at around 9 p.m. and getting into a vehicle. They followed to the area of Royse Avenue and Pembina, where another man was picked up. Police then attempted to pull the car over, but it drove over a boulevard and avoided oncoming traffic in order to evade police.
The suspect jumped out and ran between homes in the 400 block of Hudson Avenue. The driver abandoned the ride a short distance away near Manahan Avenue and Hudson Street and began running. He was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Hudson Avenue and found with $950 in his possession.
A second suspect was found inside a Jeep being driven on Clarence Avenue at around 9:45 p.m. The suspect and three others were taken into custody, where police found a cell phone and approximately $830.
A vehicle searched being drive by the same suspect on Wednesday turned up one kilogram of cocaine worth $60,000.
Police returned to the hotel and located 6 1/4 rocks of crack cocaine in one of the rooms worth an estimated $120.
Mulata Ibrahim, 33, Joseph Sunday Frangi, 26, Gideon Libanos, 24, and a 22-year-old woman all face multiple charges.
