Potahto Week

Winnipeg restaurants are preparing to go head-to-head to create the best dish using Manitoba-grown potatoes.

The second annual Potahto Week is February 23 to March 3, which aims to promote the numerous health attributes of Manitoba potatoes by encouraging Winnipeggers to try new dishes.

“Potahto Week is back and so are the tasty dishes created by talented local chefs here in Winnipeg,” said Larry McIntosh, president and CEO of Peak of the Market, who is sponsoring the event.

“We are encouraging local restaurants to sign-up, use some nutritious Manitoba potatoes and put their best dishes forward for Manitobans to enjoy.”

Restaurants can sign up free of charge and there is an extra incentive of 100 lbs of local Manitoba potatoes provided to each participating restaurant.

Last year’s winner was Brazen Hall for their Toban Potahto Sausage Soup.
