Maryland Street Apartment Fire Leaves Tenants Displaced

FireWINNIPEG — More than 40 people were evacuated after an apartment fire in the 400 block of Maryland Street Monday morning.

Emergency crews arrived shortly before 6:30 a.m. and found the three-storey walk-up apartment complex engulfed in flames. Firefighters found one person still inside the building, who was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.

Tenants were assessed aboard the WFPS Major Incident Response Vehicle (MIRV), where three additional people were later sent to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
