Security Guard Stabbed at Winnipeg Employment and Income Assistance Office

Winnipeg Police CrestA security guard at a Winnipeg Employment and Income Assistance office was stabbed Monday afternoon.

The 50-year-old victim was stabbed in the upper body at around 3:20 p.m. at 111 Rorie Street and sent to hospital in unstable condition.

Police say witnesses reported the suspect entered the building, jumped a counter, and crossed a protective glass barrier. The security guard was stabbed when he asked the man to leave.

Officers arrested the man still on scene. Louis-Nicolas Lamoureux-Gagne, 47, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody.

The guard was later upgraded to stable condition.
