WINNIPEG — Manitoba Public Insurance is warning customers about a scam involving fraudulent text messages regarding an e-transfer of money.

The public insurer says customers are advised not to respond to the text, which appears to look like it’s coming from MPI with a clickable link.

MPI says the texts are being sent by multiple phone numbers and the company doesn’t conduct business in that manner.

Customers with questions can contact an Autopac broken or MPI at (204) 985-7000.
