Brandon police took a 34-year-old man into custody Monday after they say he challenged them with a fire extinguisher and a hatchet.
Officers were called to an assault at an apartment building in the 700 block of Rosser Avenue just after 4 p.m.
They located a 59-year-old man suffering from non-life threatening injuries to his upper body. While officers were tending to the victim, the suspect opened the apartment door and challenged police with the weapons.
The man was Tasered and taken into custody after a brief struggle.
He was scheduled to appear in Brandon court on Tuesday.
