RCMP in Thompson, Manitoba Tasered a man last weekend when they say he was holding a person at knifepoint.
Police were responding to a domestic call at around 2:30 a.m. on February 11 when they encountered the armed man who was holding a female victim. Officers gave verbal commands to the man to drop the knife, but he ignored them and asked police to shoot him.
Several more warnings were given before the man was Tasered and taken into custody.
Police say the suspect kicked in the door of the residence he was in and threatened a female inside. Children were also present at the time. The same suspect kicked in the door a day earlier and threatened the same victim, but left before police could arrive.
A 29-year-old man has been charged with numerous offences, including two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
RCMP say neither the victim or her children were injured in the incident.
