A dog was severely injured and later died following a home invasion at a Thompson residence on Monday.

Manitoba RCMP say they were called to the home on Ash Street just after 1 p.m. after three suspects knocked on the door and then forced their way when they were denied entry.

Two adults and a child were able to safely escape through the back door and called police.

Police say the suspects were in the home for a short time before fleeing. Once police arrived, an injured dog was found in the backyard. It was taken to a veterinarian but succumbed to its injuries.

The first suspect is described as a young male, approximately 6’0″, 200 lbs, wearing a grey toque with a red stripe, a grey jacket and winter boots. The second two suspects are described as males wearing dark clothing. All suspects are described as being Indigenous, with one of them having a teardrop tattoo on his face.
