U of M Students Swapping Beds for the Outdoors in Fundraising Campaign

March 10, 2019 8:17 AM | News

5 Days for the HomelessSeven business students from the Univerity of Manitoba are trading in their beds to sleep outside for five nights.

The national 5 Days for the Homeless campaign raises funds and awareness for underprivileged Winnipeggers by supporting Resource Assistance for Youth (RaY).

The students will sleep in a shelter on the east side of University Centre on the U of M’s Fort Garry campus from March 10-15.

Only food that is donated to them can be consumed and students aren’t allowed to carry cash or identification with them during that time. They also won’t be able to shower for the five days, but are still expected to attend all of their classes.

It’s the 12th year in a row that the U of M business students have run the campaign.
