A 37-year-old Winnipeg man was killed Friday morning when his vehicle rear-ended a semi-trailer stopped at a red light on the South Perimeter Highway.
The two-vehicle crash happened just before 9 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the intersection of the Perimeter Highway and Waverley Street.
The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. RCMP say it doesn’t appear he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Police are investigating whether speed and alcohol were factors.
The 34-year-old driver of the semi wasn’t injured.
