Firefighters attempted to save a dog found inside a burning home in the 200 block of Hartford Avenue Saturday evening, but the animal succumbed to smoke inhalation.
Crews arrived at the bungalow just after 6 p.m. to find heavy smoke. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire inside the home, but the structure suffered significant smoke and water damage.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services says all human occupants were able to safely make it outside. The family’s dog was unable to be resuscitated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
