Winnipeg Police Logo CrestWINNIPEG — A four-year-old girl who was critically injured when she was struck by a vehicle while walking with a woman near a Winnipeg intersection earlier this week has died.

Police say the girl died Tuesday following the collision that happened around noon the previous day in the city’s north end.

The person she was with was seriously injured but there is no word on her condition.

Police have not released any other details about the pair, but media reports say the woman is the girl’s mother and that both are refugees from Eritrea who had moved to Canada just weeks before the accident.

Charges have not been laid against the driver.

Investigators believe several people may have witnessed the collision and they’re asking motorists to check any video or dash cameras that may have caught the accident.
