A 29-year-old woman was able to escape from a man who allegedly abducted her and safely contact RCMP in Portage la Prairie last week.
Police say the woman was walking along Crescent Avenue West on March 15 when a vehicle pulled up next to her. A man, appearing to be in his 50s, asked for directions and then forced her into the front passenger seat.
The man drove the woman down back roads before she was able to convince him to take her to a restaurant in Portage la Prairie. She was able to distance herself from him once inside and sought help from a customer.
Police are looking for a man driving a blue Toyota car with rust over the rear passenger wheel. He is described as being in his 50s, wearing a grey sweater or hoody, a green hat and possibly green pants at the time of the abduction.
Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at (204) 857-4445 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
