A 47-year-old Winnipeg man was killed Sunday evening when he exited his car that had just crashed and came into contact with a live hydro wire.

The single-vehicle accident happened at around 8:40 p.m. on Roblin Boulevard across from Beaudry Park in the RM of Cartier.

Police say the man was travelling westbound at the time when he lost control and struck a hydro pole, knocking down live wires. He got out of his car and touched a wire, where police say he was fatally injured.

RCMP say speed, alcohol or drugs don’t appear to have been factors in the collision.
