Newspaper Carrier Robbed, Punched in Downtown Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestA female newspaper carrier was assaulted and robbed Saturday morning in downtown Winnipeg.

Police say the 45-year-old victim was in the area of Broadway and Hargrave Street when a man began screaming at her incoherently just before 7 a.m.

He tried to get inside her vehicle before punching the woman multiple times until she fell to the ground. Police say he continued to assault her and demanded her car keys, searching her pockets trying to find them.

Officers responded and took Liam John Freeman of Winnipeg, 18, into custody. He faces several charges.
