Winnipeg police have dismantled a clandestine drug lab in the 100 block of Mayfair Avenue.
The lab was found Sunday by a contractor working in a suite of a multi-family unit at Forks Gardens.
Police arrived to safely ventilate and secured the suite before the resident came home and was arrested.
A Hazmat team also attended, along with two transit buses to temporarily house evacuated residents.
Officers seized various pieces of lab equipment, a pressure cooker, a chemical suit with gloves, and a self-contained breathing apparatus. Precursor chemicals in the suite included Drano, acid, and red phosphorus. Numerous samples have been sent to Health Canada for analysis. All potentially toxic substances were safely removed and the suite was secured.
Conal Patrick Moran, 29, faces numerous charges and remains in custody.
