Bike Theft Leads Winnipeg Police to Meth Bust

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestWinnipeg police came across approximately $10,000 worth of methamphetamine after responding to a report of a man trying to steal a bicycle on Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Burrows Avenue at around 4:10 p.m. and found a minivan parked at the rear of the residence with two people inside.

A woman was in the front of the vehicle, while a man was in the back beside a mountain bike and a reciprocating saw. Both were arrested.

A third suspect was found between the houses and arrested. Officers seized meth, a scale and switch-blade knife, as well as five cell phones found inside the van.

Michael John Desmarais, 27, faces several charges, including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Jolene Kristen Pottinger, 27, was arrested for failing to comply with a recognizance order and on one outstanding arrest warrant.
