Firefighters Tackle Blaze in Vacant Winnipeg Apartment Building

Winnipeg firefighters battled a blaze early Wednesday in a vacant three-storey apartment building in the 400 block of William Avenue.

The fire began shortly after 3 a.m. and had crews initially launching a defensive attack. The fire was deemed under control at around 4:50 a.m.

No occupants were found inside and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. A damage estimate isn’t yet available.

Emergency crews evacuated a home on the east side of the building as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
