Winnipeg Goldeyes LogoThe Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed right-handed pitcher Kevin McAvoy for the 2019 season.

The Syracuse, New York native has pitched for the Double-A Eastern League’s Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) each of the past three seasons.

McAvoy struck out 84 and allowed just seven home runs over 91.1 total innings, splitting time between Portland and the High-A Carolina League’s Salem Red Sox.

The 25-year-old was 6-9 with a 4.28 ERA in 21 starts and one relief appearance for the Sea Dogs in 2017.

“I’m hoping Kevin can impact our rotation in a positive way,” said Goldeyes’ manager Rick Forney. “I think he has the stuff to be a real horse in the American Association.”

The Goldeyes now have 25 players under contract for the 2019 season.
