Man Charged After Threatening Others with Knife Downtown

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestWinnipeg police have charged a man after they say he threatened several people with a knife after being kicked out of Portage Place on Saturday.

Officers responded at around 4:15 p.m. to the area of Portage Avenue and Carlton Street after multiple pedestrians were threatened with the weapon.

Police say two security officers at the mall escorted the man out, who then threatened them with the same knife.

Sandy David Bruce, 33, was arrested near Ellice Avenue and Hargrave Street. A folding knife was found in Bruce’s possession upon being searched by police.

He has been charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon and failing to comply with a probation order.

He remains in custody.
