WINNIPEG — One person has died after a fire in a bungalow early Tuesday.
Fire crews arrived at the home in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue just before 7 a.m. to find heavy flames and smoke.
Firefighters located two people inside the residence. One person was taken to hospital in critical condition, while the other was declared deceased on scene. Two cats also perished in the blaze.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says it’s not known if the home had working smoke alarms.
The structure suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage. The cause remains under investigation.
In a separate fire just before 3 a.m., two people were treated for smoke inhalation after flames broke out in a two-storey home in the 400 block of De La Morenie Street.
Crews rescued one cat, but another was reported missing.
