The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says it’s not known if the home had working smoke alarms.

The structure suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage. The cause remains under investigation.

In a separate fire just before 3 a.m., two people were treated for smoke inhalation after flames broke out in a two-storey home in the 400 block of De La Morenie Street.

Crews rescued one cat, but another was reported missing.
