Winnipeg Police Logo CrestFour people are in police custody after guns and other items were seized from an east Winnipeg hotel on Monday.

Police were called to the Super 8 in the 1400 block of Niakwa Road East at around 9 p.m. for a well-being check.

Officers began knocking on doors and checking on guests. One door wasn’t answered, but police could hear people inside manually manipulating what sounded like a gun.

One person was later seen leaving the room and taken into custody.

The K9 unit and tactical support team also responded, demanding the people exit the room. A man and woman separately exited the suite and were arrested.

Officers searched the room and located a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, pellet gun with airsoft bullets, a stolen credit card and passport, and several stolen drivers’ licences. They also found a stolen Ford Mustang outside and the accompanying keys.

James Paul Joseph McGillvray, 24, Christian John Joseph Demeo-Lafreniere, 19, Mark David Hurdon, 28, and Natassja Elizabeth Knox, 28, have been charged with numerous offences and remain in custody.
