WINNIPEG — When there is another provincial election — and it may be sooner than later — Manitobans can register in advance using a new online tool.
Elections Manitoba has launched online voter registration, making it easier for voters to check if they are already registered to vote, update their information and add themselves to the registry.
“Voters can access the online voter registration service at any time. Elections Manitoba encourage voters to use the service if they are moving or will be moving, if they are first-time voters, or if they just want to make sure they are registered,” a news release said.
Manitoba’s fixed election date is October 6, 2020, but Premier Brian Pallister has hinted for weeks that he could call an earlier election. Pallister said in the event of an election, he would give opposition parties at least a 90-day notice.
“It would be my view that governments shouldn’t try to get advantage by surprising somebody. That’s not my intention,” he said.
