Charges Laid in Fatal Stabbing of Stony Mountain Inmate

RCMP have charged three men in connection to the stabbing death of a fellow inmate at Stony Mountain Institution on Saturday.

Michael Monney, 27, was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder since April 14, 2016 when he was fatally assaulted. He was later pronounced deceased on scene.

RCMP have laid charges against the following inmates:

  • Stephen Wilfred Wood, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder.
  • Stephen Michael Konowalchuk, 36, has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
  • Adrian Joseph Sefa, 27, has been charged with assault.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
