The capacity for Thursday’s Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party is being lowered to 11,000 after some incidents of unruliness last weekend.
Economic Development Winnipeg and True North Sports + Entertainment say the reduced capacity from 15,000 will allow for a more enjoyable fan experience on the streets.
The start time for the Jets-Blues to hit the ice in Game 5 hasn’t yet been announced, but organizers and police are already expecting it to be a busy night as the long weekend approaches.
Last Friday’s street party saw a few fights and bouts of drunken misconduct, forcing police to make multiple arrests and let some fans sober up in the drunk tank.
Tickets to the party are $5 and available through Ticketmaster. Proceeds go to support initiatives of United Way Winnipeg.
