WINNIPEG — New renderings and a virtual tour have been released of the future Canada’s Diversity Gardens project at Assiniboine Park.

“Over the next 18 months, as we work toward the anticipated opening of The Leaf, we expect public interest in this exciting project to grow to new heights,” said Margaret Redmond, president and CEO, Assiniboine Park Conservancy.

The Leaf — an “architecturally brilliant indoor horticultural attraction” — is one of the focal pieces of the $97.8 million project.

“We are thrilled to share this stunning virtual tour, which really captures the beauty, scale and scope of the new development.”

Construction on the piece started in summer 2017 and is expected to be complete by late 2020.

Over the spring and summer, the Assiniboine Park Conservancy says work will continue on the roof cable net system to prepare for installation of the specialized ETFE (ethylene-tetra-fluoro-ethylene) roof in early fall.

Capital fundraising efforts are ongoing and to date, $79.5 million has been raised from all levels of government, private donors, and other sources.
