Students from Miles Macdonnell Collegiate in Winnipeg have won first place in a national safety video contest.
The video, entitled “Safety is Not a Joke,” shows the perspective of soon-to-be workers learning the seriousness of safety on the job.
“Certified safety professionals help improve the safety and health outcomes of the workplace,” says Trevor Johnson, president of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering.
“Safety professionals are extraordinarily people-focused, with a passion for prevention. For that reason, they play a vital role in the lives of Canadians coast-to-coast every day.”
Wednesday was Occupational Health and Safety Professional Day, while Safety and Health Week is running May 5-11.
Some local events are also taking place to focus on workplace safety.
