WINNIPEG — A man in medical distress threatened paramedics with a hatchet on Thursday evening, police say.
The man was found in the 200 block of Vaughn Street at around 7:10 p.m. and taken to hospital in stable condition. Once the ambulance arrived at Health Sciences Centre, the man took out a hatchet in a threatening manner towards paramedics before he could be transferred to the hospital.
Police had to use a Taser to control the man, who was medically cleared and then taken into custody.
The 24-year-old from Winnipeg has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
