Police Tackle Armed Suspect Holding Shotgun in Gods Lake Narrows

RCMP Crest Logo VehicleRCMP in Gods Lake Narrows were able to quickly disarm a man before he could load a shotgun as they were investigating an assault call at a residence in the community.

Officers responded to the home at around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday and were told another resident had been assaulted.

Police approached the door and could hear someone on the other side loading the gun. Officers burst inside and found an armed man standing in the room, who they quickly tackled and disarmed. The suspect had a round in the shotgun chamber and additional rounds in the magazine tube.

“This was an extremely dangerous situation for our officers,” said Sgt. Paul Manaigre of the Manitoba RCMP.

“Their quick response and actions resulted in the safe arrest of the suspect and no further harm to any other resident within the home.”

A 25-year-old man from Gods Lake Narrows is facing multiple weapon and assault-related charges.
