Winnipeg firefighters were kept busy overnight, battling two separate fires within the span of about an hour.
The first broke out just before midnight in a single-family bungalow in the 1000 block of Alfred Avenue.
Crews originally arrived to reports of smoke coming from the backyard, but determined it was an indoor fire. Flames were deemed under control shortly before 12:30 a.m.
No one was home at the time, but the structure suffered significant damage. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
At 1:15 a.m., another blaze occurred in an industrial building in the 2000 block of Logan Avenue. Crews encountered heavy black smoke and deployed an offensive strategy. The fire was under control by around 2:43 a.m.
No one was inside at the time and the blaze is believed to have started in a vehicle that was parked inside the building. The exact cause has yet to be determined.
