Arrests Made After Man Dies in Poplar River Assault

One man is dead and three others are in custody after an assault in Poplar River last Friday.

Manitoba RCMP were called to the local hospital at around 8:45 a.m. after receiving a report that a 24-year-old man had been assaulted and was in life-threatening condition. The victim later died in hospital.

Brendon Valiquette, 19, of Poplar River has been charged with manslaughter A 28-year-old man and 17-year-old male — also from Poplar River — were arrested and have charges of assault pending against them.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
