A new gym in Winnipeg’s Exchange District is all about having a good time with good people. A sense of community, if you will.
That’s why Amie Seier created The Community Gym.
“Your workout doesn’t have to suck,” says Seier, a spin instructor who previously worked in corporate marketing.
“We wanted to create a space where people would be excited to come workout. Being an adult and having to pay taxes is hard enough, why spend any more time doing something you don’t want to do?”
If The Community sounds like a fun environment to break a sweat, that’s exactly the vibe they’re going for. Seier, who is also known for her motivating and enthusiastic Instagram account, doesn’t take herself too seriously. She once ran a half marathon in a banana costume.
The Community offers four diverse class options: cycle (indoor spin), camp (boot camp), calm (yoga) and crush (boxing). All classes are 45 minutes and are designed to be inclusive, approachable, engaging and fun.
As part of the gym’s grand opening, The Community (468 Main Street) will be holding free classes this weekend, with a party planned for 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.
Class times and prices are available by visiting thecommunitygym.ca.
