Five people have been charged after Winnipeg police came across a gun, drugs and cash while searching a vehicle on Saturday.
Officers noticed a vehicle driving westbound against eastbound traffic in the area of Fort Street and York Avenue at around 12:40 a.m.
The 15-year-old male driver was unable to produce a licence or registration. He also provided officers with a fake name.
Police searched the vehicle and found a .22 calibre handgun, along with a magazine containing nine rounds of .22 calibre ammunition. A small amount of crack cocaine and approximately $1,945 in cash was also seized. The driver was found to be in possession of a knife.
The teen was arrested and also found to have two outstanding warrants for five counts of failing to comply with a sentence.
Three 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man — all from Winnipeg — were also arrested and charged with firearm and drug offences.
